Norman Maccaud a Canadian Bank-robber, counterfeiter, and charismatic goodfellow was born in Toronto in 1933, he spent his summers with his grandparents in the Scottish waters galavanting around with pigeons and cousins the most free he ever felt. Norman spent 30 percent of his live in prison the most time spent in The Kingston Penitary, he was a diplomatic leader in the resolution of the 1971 Riot, which happened months before the more famous Attica Prison Riots.

I discovered Mr Maccaud, Norm, Normie, while researching for Elaine Stec. He allegedly murdered the man that killed her.

In order to understand Norman‘s Story – before it turns into a myth – let’s break his life into 7 parts.

Early Life 1933 – leading up to and first long prison stint
-1946, dec 4 – Norman a 13-year-old high school student witnessed a taxicab driver murdered, he watched the gunman flee only to return the scene moments later, leap into a stolen car and then disappear into the night. “He looked directly at me and I looked back at him.” Norman told the reporter.

by 1951 Norman a well dressed youth went on an “adventure” as he hitch-hiked towards the Queen City following a series of fast-breaking events involving car theft and highway robbery.
Only a few hours earlier Norman forced Sally Henson off the road, she had 70 in her pocket book, Maccaud took 10 and her car and he drove towards kington leaving the car in an alley behind Stones Flowery shop.

A year later Gladys Mullen 21 and Norman Maccaud were captured after 20 police cruisers participated in a chase over half the city which ended in the capture of the couple. Norman was charged with car theft, house breaking, receiving a gun and possession of offensive weapons and dangerous driving in Toronto Canada. He was sentenced to to Ontario Reformatory were he escaped in a prison employee’s automobile he was captured hour see later.near Shore acres Beach.
